Dear Diary, this morning I woke up in Winslow Arizona. In an amazing bed at La Posada Hotel an old Harvey House, that's restored and beautiful. I hopped in my car and drove to the Painted Desert. Where I had a chance tour the park's early 60's buildings designed by Neutra.  I had a chance to stop by jackrabbit trading post and pick up my "Here it is" underwear.  Then off to Pine  to present on route 66 as part of the Big Read/ Arizona One Book celebrating Grapes of Wrath.  The road was a bit wet due to rain.  Back to Winslow to present at the Hubbell Trading Post (home to the world's largest Navajo rug)and then off to Kingman to ready for tomorrow's presentation. Staying at the Hill Top Motel a classic route 66.  Getting ready for a presentation in Kingman, AZ, also home of the Route 66 Museum.  Sure am enjoying this drive around Northern Arizona!

A 2013 Tradition!

Lynn Freyse
A long standing tradition of mine is to watch the Rose Parade. Seeing all those flowers and seeds becoming amazingly fun, entertaining forms, and the plumes of the marching bands making their way down the street. Though, I keep hoping that this float will pass by. But no, since it was the 1957 entry for the City of Phoenix, that is not surprising. Sitting on the very front of that float is our own 1957 Miss Arizona, Lynn Freyse you might know her better as Lynn Borden (her married and stage name,) but that is another story for another post. The bold color and straight lines of this float were created by none other than, the iconic architect,  Frank Lloyd Wright. Hoping you have a great 2013!
